Updated with the 2018 Golden Globes winners, below.

This year, your friendly neighborhood podcast hosts are cranking up the stakes at the Golden Globes. Below, we’ve shared our predictions for who will win in each of the 25 categories. Pretty simple, right?

WELL. There are two twists.

First twist: The winner will be the geek for a bonus episode of this very podcast, choosing something they love that the loser will almost certainly dislike. If Emily wins, then brace yourselves for a teen soap opera; if Eric wins, then next stop, video games!

Second twist: We both believe accurately predicting the Golden Globes is basically random chance. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is a small and notoriously hard to anticipate group of voters. So, we’ll be playing against a third prognosticator: Randomly generated selections for each category. If Rando wins, we will do a podcast about something randomly generated that neither of us would choose to watch.

All the picks below are designated below with “ERIC,” “EMILY” and/or “RANDO.” We will update this post after the show with a final tally of how we did: One point for each correct prediction.

Without further ado, here are all three of our predictions:

Which means we learned two things from this experience:

1) Humans are three times better than computers.
2) We, the humans, should have planned for the possibility of a tie.

Because we tied, we will be releasing TWO bonus episodes at some date TBD, each of which will be chosen to infuriate/alienate the other. So you all have that to look forward to.

Good night!
